A Rainy Weekend

Today is is not just any Monday. Today is a very important Monday. A day that I have been waiting for for a long time. Today Justin Timberlake's album comes out. TODAY!!!! So that makes it a very very happy Monday :)

Now that that important information is out of the way we can get on with things. It rained most of the day Saturday so it made for a nice day inside and my aunt and I made good use of that time by going to Color Me Mine. This cute little studio where you go in pick out a piece of already crafted ceramic and then paint it. Once you are done you leave it with them so they can fire it and you pick it up a week or two later. I seriously had no idea what to paint! There were so many options but I ended up going with coasters and she painted a big bowl. I cannot wait to get out stuff back to see how it turned out! It was a really fun place and I will be going back for sure!!

Other than that we just kinda hung out and laid low. Saturday night I babysat Ms. Riley and we had a fun time playing games and watching Cars 2.

And that about sums everything up. Have a happy Monday and go buy JT's album :) Trust me it will make your Monday 100times better

Roomie Night: We Halloween'd the Place

So yesterday I alluded to this roomie night that we had over here. Let me tell you. It was a ton of fun and I am so glad I made everyone do it suggested it :)

At first my roomie Jessica- oh wait have I not introduced you? Let me get to that next week! For now just know we have Jessica, Crysta and Adrianna but she was nonexistent for this event.

So anyway Jessica rejected the idea and thought it was lame but Crysta was on board with me and so it was scheduled for this past Tuesday night. At first we had decided to just do dinner movie and drinks but miss Jessica over here actually really liked my idea and even created an activity for us!! Decorate our apartment and pumpkins. Fun.

So after going out to get supplies we settled back in with some pizza and cider. By the way Redd's Strawberry Ale is Ah-mazing. And we popped in Pitch Perfect since I had yet to see it. Super good.

So we put decorations up all over our apartment and then got to business prettifying our pumpkins. We all used tacks to put our first initial on our pumpkins and then decorated them as we wanted. Look and see!

So our first roomie night was a great success, a lot of fun, and our apartment is all Halloween'd out! Can't wait to see what next month brings!

I Can DIMyself: Fudge

Hey Friends! It is Wednesday and for me that means just one more day til the weekend!! Last night the roomies and I had a fun roomie night, but more on that tomorrow. Today I have a super easy and delicious fudge recipe to share with you. Perfect to bring to those holiday parties!

Reese's White Chocolate Fudge

Here;s what you need:

  • 32 snack sized Reese's
  • 3 cups of chocolate chips
  • 1 can of sweetened condensed milk

1. Gather all your ingredients. Original recipe calls for milk chocolate chips but I used white in mine and it turned out amazing. I got the snack size Reese's and since they are a bit smaller I had to use more (I even used a smaller pan!) so if you do that I would get 32 Reese's

2. Layer the bottom of the pan with Reese's, with mine I ended up using 20 of them.

3. Melt 3 cups of your chocolate of choice and a can of sweetened condensed milk over the stove.

4. Pour the chocolate mixture over the Reese's.

5. Cut up your remaining Reese's and scatter over the mixture. Mine is kinda lacking in this part since I ended having to use so many Reese's for the bottom.

6.  Let cool. I stuck mine in the fridge right away because I am impatient and then in about 1 1/2-2 hours it was ready for tasting

7. Enjoy and try not to eat the whole pan ;)

Original recipe can be found here

Crazy Dog Mom

I am kinda a crazy puppy mom. I am obsessed with my dog. I wish I could take him with me everywhere. And I love to spoil him. I never leave a store with dog stuff without buying him something and I plan my days around him to maximize my time with him. He hates to be home alone and I feel guilty leaving him.

So I ask you, am I completely insane for not wanting to go out if he can't come?? And before you call me a crazy person let me elaborate.

For the past month I have gotten to see him every weekend and pretty soon now that I have a job that is going to turn into every other weekend. So in my mind I am relating my weekends with Colby the way a parent does who has shared custody of their child.

Typically I imagine that if it is your weekend with your child you try to spend as much time as possible with them. Right? You might stay in instead of seeing your friends and such. Well that is how I feel when I am home with Colby. It is my weekend and time with him so hate to leave and go places leaving him at home. *he usually isn't alone on the weekends-my sister and mom are home* But he isn't with me and a big reason I go home is to play and cuddle with him.

I realize that I may be a bit irrational in my thinking and that a dog and a human being child are different but it is how I feel. And the fact that he is a small dog makes me feel even more "right" in my ideas, that he can go almost everywhere with me.

Colby Jack is welcome in a lot of my friends homes but when he isn't am I really that horrible of a friend if I decline? Or at the very least keep my stay short.

I am sure that this truly does make me sound like a crazy but I promise you I am just a loving dog mom :) What are your thoughts???

Linking up with Adriana today.

Beer, Apples, Football

This weekend was a good one. We had something fun to do every single day and it went by way too fast. You'd think leaving Colby Jack and Jamal behind every Sunday would get easier each time but it doesn't. I can't wait until the day we are together again. So anyway on to the recap.

Thursday night I got a job offer that I accepted!!! Woo hoo!!! I am so excited to start. I am going to be a sales associate at a jewelry store aka be sending Jamal pictures of my dream ring all day long ;)

Friday night we went out to Applebees with a few of Jamals coworkers. Beer, wings, and talking is always a good time.

Saturday we lazed around all morning and then we finally got up and ready to meet G&K and kids at an apple orchard. We went to the Minnetonka Orchard. It was fun, really kid oriented. It was a bit too pricey for us so we skipped the apple picking but eating the apple cider donuts and going through the corn maze was still fun.

Then later that night I met up with a friend and her son who I haven't seen in forever. We met at an indoor play place so her boy could play and we could chat. It was fun catching up and talking about her current pregnancy!!

Sunday we went over to our friends Cody, Chelsey, and Celik for a football party. She made us peach moons-blue moon, peach schnapps, and orange juice. So good. During the 3rd quarter us girls went for a walk and then the game was over. It was fun hanging out with them.

And here we are again back at Monday and counting down to Friday, or in my case Thursday :) Have a happy week!

Some Things I Will Never Understand

There are just some things in life that I don't get. Why do people do stupid things? Let me explain...

Why on earth would you board the bus and then proceed to look for you ID card. You got on knowing full well that you needed it but instead of being prepared you hold everyone up while you dig through your backpack for five minutes. Why??

If there is a row of 20 seats and two aisles and you are the first one to sit down the logical thing to do would be sit somewhere near the middle. But no, you go and sit on the end and everyone after takes the seat closet to the aisle so that when I am the last one in I can maneuver my way to the very middle seat all the while stepping on your toes and whacking you in the face with my backpack. Why again? Do you enjoy it?

Even worse than the people who sit in the aisle seats first are the ones that look at like you are inconveniencing them when you ask to get by. The ones who barely move an inch and if their chair desk is up don't even put it down for you. Really?!

Do you do any of these things? What are some things that you will never understand?

After this Debbie Downer of post I am happy to report that I got a B on my first marketing test. Woohoo I'll take it considering I spent approximately 3 minutes studying skimming my notes.

Have a happy Thursday friends!! My weekend has begun :)

It Is Never Too Early To Start Planning

So since I am procrastinating as usual and finding anything I can to avoid studying for my stats test I came up with the brilliant idea to make a birthday/Christmas list for my familia. I know it is a bit early but you can never plan too much right? Plus some people are those organized types that already have their gifts for others bought! Well anyway here is my little wish list for the season.

You can never have too many boots, I'll take both please.

Fossil is my fave brand for watches and purses. And I love each of these.

And that's all I've got for now. Shoes and boots. Easy peasy right? Maybe if I am lucky one of these items will show up under the tree, better yet in my hands on November 6th (that's my birthday in case you forgot ;))

What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?

That is the question that has been asked of me (okay maybe it was put a bit more eloquently) at almost all of my interviews in my recent job hunt. And every single time I am stuck and don't know what to say. Of course I come up with something but probably not what they are looking for considering I am in my last year of school. I imagine that they expect me to have specific career goals and have at least an idea of where I want to go in life. But I don't.

I used to be that person that knew what they wanted to be when they grew up. I used to think I had it all figured out. And then I didn't (because science is way harder in college). So I said "management? Sure why not." Which brings me to where I am today, less than a year away from a degree and absolutely no idea what I want to do with it.

All I know is that I want to get a well paying job so that I can take care of myself and enjoy my life. I know that I don't want to be in retail and that is all. That's it. I have got no other idea of what I want my future career to look like. I mean yeah I would love to be the big boss of a huge company some day and all that but where do I start? I don't even know what kind of jobs I should be looking for once I graduate. And in case you forgot, that is in LESS THAN ONE YEAR.

So did you have it all figured out? Did it work out that way? Better yet, tell me what to do. Because management is such a broad degree and I am much better with specifics.

Date Night: Staying in

It is Monday, another week upon us and another week closer to me graduating. I went home again this weekend to see my boys. Thursday night was of course devoted to football but Friday I designated as date night. You know how your relationship starts to get into a routine and it is the same thing every single night and every single weekend. Well that's how my life has been feeling and I was getting a little bored with the nightly TV watching with Jamal. Don't get me wrong I love every minute of it but I wanted to change it up a bit.

Friday I thought of a great menu to serve when he got home work, twice baked potato skins, cheesy bacon ranch dip with chips, and popcorn chicken. I got the recipe for the potato skins from here and the dip here. They both turned out really good and would be perfect to serve for a crowd during a football game :)

Along with our snacks we had some wine, I lit some candles and we turned on a movie. We picked Erased. We didn't like it at all. Not much action and just kinda boring.

I don't even know what we did Saturday, must have just wasted the day around the house. That night though we went over to our friends Ben and Ednahs where Jamal grilled us this amazing dinner of chicken with chimichurri sauce and corn on the cob finished with grilled peaches and ice cream. Perfection. Seriously, finding a man that can cook is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Also on Saturday I somehow ended up joining Jamals fantasy football league and we did the draft that night. All day long I had this feeling that I would get first pick and I was right!! Woo hoo, not that that meant much for me. I still have a feeling that my team sucks. Oh well all for fun :)

Sunday I hung out at my aunts doing laundry since our dryer broke and then came back down to school after having my heart broken by watching Colby Jack try and come after my car as I was driving away. He is most definitely a mamas boy and I hate when I have to leave him.

It was a fun weekend for sure and I will be back home again this weekend to babysit Riley and get puppy kisses.

I Can DIMyself: Wooden State Love/String Art

A couple months ago I won a giveaway from Chrissy!! She generously gave away supplies to recreate a wooden string art that she had made. I originally planned on making a "B" but after I saw this on Pinterest I had to do it.

Here is how it's done.

It's not perfection by any means and I apparently can't hammer a nail straight in but I think it turned out okay.

If you want to try it out and prefer some words to go along with the pictures head over to Chrissy's blog, she's got it all there for you :)

Thanks again Chrissy!!

Horror Story: Interview Edition

As you know I have now been unemployed for a little over a month. So being on the job hunt I have had a few good interviews and one or two not so good. To spare you from making some of my mistakes and maybe even having a good laugh I am here today to share one of those not so good interviews with you.

Let me set the scene:

It was a Tuesday afternoon after I got out of class. I spent my time before leaving reading blogs and getting directions to my destination, an insurance company. The weather here was gross and humid, think 98* (not the band) And all you have to do is set foot outside and you are drenched in sweat.

Well since I am such a good planner (not) and haven't had to dress up for work in a long time (my previous job was a uniform) I had nothing nice to wear. Insert brilliant idea for a nice t-shirt and scarf (recall it is 98*). So I am happily driving to my interview with my AC blasting trying to cool down from the 2 minute walk to my car in the desert.

I allowed myself a good ten extra minutes to find the place and still hopefully be early. Well I had no idea where I was going. I walked up and down this street and thought I found the building only to be told it was across the street so back out into the heat I went. Once I was in the correct building there were hallways going every which way and at this point I only had a few minutes to pick the right one. Panic sets in. After walking around with no luck I call for directions. Well since this place was so completed the keep right and go straight were of no help to me. Finally I found just two minutes late and my interviewer was still at lunch. Lucky me.

Until I look down and notice that I forgot to change shoes and still had my flip flops on!! I ask the receptionist how long he would be and race back to my car to change shoes. I run back just in time to see him walk in the office right before me. So drenched in sweat (not a good look) but with the proper shoes on the interview begins.

The second thing he asks is my availability. I tell him it and he says "oh it doesn't look like it is going to work, sorry I usually ask this on the phone so that you don't come all the way here for nothing. I must have forgot with you" Great. Just great.

And so all of that running around, getting in an unexpected workout, sweating to death, and panic of being late/having the wrong shoes was all for nothing.

Lesson learned friends. Give yourself extra extra time and always double check your shoes.

Hello September

This weekend, while good and relaxing not exactly one to write home about. Since I am still unemployed and it was a long weekend I went home to hang with my lover boys. Jamal had to work every day so Colby Jack and I spent a lot of quality time together while I watched way too many episodes of Say Yes to the Dress and getting in some good naps.

Colby Jack got his first haircut this weekend and he looks like such a bog boy!! When I went to pick him I seriously did not recognize him. They had to cut off at least 3 inches of hair, so crazy. But he looks so handsome and I am obsessed. He is just so fluffy and cute.

I also noticed when I got home that Colby Jack had lost 3 teeth while I was gone!! He is just getting so big.

Our neighbors dog was outside quite a bit this week and I like to think that she and Colby are friends. Although he is afraid of her because she is bigger he loves to tease her and make her chase him around. He kept wanting to go outside all the time to see her.

I am pretty worried about my little guy, he has been doing this coughing thing where he ends up coughing up this white foam. I have no idea why. I called the vet and they said he probably just got into something, but he is always watched so I don't know about that. But I don't want to be the paranoid puppy mom so no vet visit yet. I hope he stops soon or else a visit is inevitable.

And I am not quite sure how this post ended up being entirely about my dog but I guess that is what happens when you have no life and sit home with him all weekend.

Hope everyone had a fun labor day weekend. Fall is here!!
