Thursday Thoughts

  • Last night Jamal and I went over to Greg and Karissa's for our weekly dinner/PLL/gaming night. It was our turn to make dinner and I chose to make homemade pizza. YUM. I was so excited to eat it that I forgot to get a picture but we made barbecue chicken and bacon and a meat lovers pizza. Each with half without cheese for Greg. They both tasted super good, I even made a butter garlic mix to put on the crust like they do at Domino's.
  • For dessert we had strawberry shortcake.

  • And than I came home to find this great little package waiting for me. Yay :)

  • A couple weeks ago I won a giveaway from Laura Beth at Table 4 One. She got them from Toe Goz. These flip flops are so cute and will be perfect for our trip to the Dominican Republic in a month. Speaking of the DR I am sooooo excited!!!
  • Tomorrow I am going to hang out with Ashley so we can do some more crafting, like I showed you in this post. So I should be back again next week with another fun craft :)
  • Saturday we are going paint balling to celebrate our friend Brian's birthday. I am kinda scared, I don't want it to hurt! I will be sure to post all about it next week, hopefully I won't get too many welts.

Pumpkin, Salted Caramel and Stats

This weekend while I was sitting home with nothing to do while Jamal was recuperating from his night out with friends I found THIS awesome recipe on pinterest for pumpkin bread WITH pumpkin frosting AND salted caramel drizzle. AMAZING! It was sooo good (yes it is all gone already). I am going to have to make this a few more times this season. It was delicious.

When I made it I did add a little extra pumpkin in both the bread and the frosting. I think I used a whole 16oz can between the two.

Lately my life has consisted of studying, a lot! I have had a test every single school day for the past 2 weeks! Thankfully I think I now have a week or 2 before my next test. While studying for my stats test I was snacking on these little crackers "Jingos"! really, I just bought them because I liked the name :) haha. They tasted good. Not my favorite or anything but I would buy them again, maybe try a different flavor.

For lunch today my mom bought me this cool like lunch pack. Since I am stuck at school all day and don't have any way to refrigerate things my diet gets quite plain and boring so this was a fun thing to try out. And hummus is my favorite so I was excited to try it out. I do wish it had been flavored hummus ie. garlic or sun dried tomato but it tasted good anyway. I will for sure be buying more flavors I really liked the trail mix that was in this one.

Couch Surfing

It's FRIDAY! And I am off tomorrow! YAY. Tonight is Jamal's BFF Brian's birthday party so he will be out all night celebrating while I am at work :/ But it's okay. That means I will have the night to myself to catch up on some shows and maybe if I am feeling productive I will clean.

I currently have a loft bed in my room that I have had a for the past 5 years or so.

And I recently decided that I wanted to take it down and switch beds with my sister so that I could update my room and do some decorating. Well I finally had some time 2 weeks ago to have Jamal help me take it down. It was going great...until one side decided not to come undone. And we haven't been able to get it undone still. It's kinda hard to tell but this is my bed sideways in my room.

So this has been my bed for the past 2 weeks.

Sad :( I want my bed and my room back.

Yesterday at work I was telling my co-worker about my dilemma and she suggested that I lay down the mattress and at least sleep on that versus the couch. Why did I not think of this?! So now this is my new 'bed' until Jamal feels like trying to take the rest of my bed apart.

Have a great weekend!!

MN Blogger Meet-Up: Showcasing My Artistic Abilities

Last night I had such a blast with all the girls that came out to the 2nd MN blogger meet-up, I almost wasn't going to be there.

I read about it some time ago and knew I wanted to go but honestly I was super nervous about it! For weeks I debated and finally the day before after much deliberation I made the great choice to go and check it out. Why not? I am so glad that I decided to go out and meet everyone I had a lot of fun and met a ton of great girls.

We went to the Paint Pub to paint the Minneapolis Skyline (interpretative style). Now I am not very artistic at all. I do have my moments but they are far and few.

This is what it really looks like. Pretty View via

As soon as I got there I got really nervous and called Jamal for a pep talk...he didn't answer :( so I just sucked up and went inside. The first person I met was Jess, we chatted for a bit until everyone else showed up. I'll admit that I can be a bit awkward with a bunch of people that I don't know so I was ready to start painting.

My table groupies were BeckyKelly, and Andrea. We had a ton of fun talking the whole time and looking over each others canvases to make sure we were doing it right.

This was my finished version of the Stone Arch Bridge and the Minneapolis Skyline

Some of the other ladies I got to meet were SallyMichelleKellyMelissaDawnJenBridgetAndrea

Now I can't wait for the next MN blogger meet-up!!!

Cheese Crackers and Itchy Bumps

Hope that all of you had a great weekend. I on the other hand has a less than exciting one and will spare you all of the intriguing details. Instead I will share some thoughts that were on my mind this morning is my stats class and no none of these thoughts have anything to do with what I should have learned in class today.

  • This morning I had little crackers with cheese in them for a snack and I felt like I was one of the toddlers I used to watch in my church nursery minus the apple juice.

  • I had to eat these crackers because for some crazy reason I cannot stay awake for the first hour of my 9am class. Around 10 we get a mini 5 minute break and from then on I have no problem staying awake. But that first hour of my day is killer and I have no idea why. So I decided the solution to my problem was having a morning snack.

  • I think that I am allergic to something. I don't know what or why (I have no allergies) but I have these crazy little bumps on my arms and not also my chest and nose :( and they itch a lot sometimes. I think they could be hives but I have had them for some time and I don't know what is wrong with me. Very frustrating.

  • I was so excited to wear my new moccasins today for the first time. They are perfect for this rainy chilly day we are having.

Decisions Suck

First of all I would like to say thanks to all of our military and their families as well as our fire fighters and police officers. 9/11 will forever to remembered and remind us to be thankful for our lives, our country we live in and the men and women who make this a safe place for us to live.

So as many of you know I am majoring in Spanish and management. Well I have come to point now where I don't know if I should continue as planned with my Spanish degree or opt out of it and just stick with management.

This semester is only a few weeks in but I am already so lost in my spanish class. I feel like I haven't been learned enough to take the course I am in (spain history) and am just frustrated.

On one had I just want to quit but on the other I don't want to because this is something that I have wanted for a long time. I would love to be able to speak spanish and communicate with so many more people but I feel like I will never get to that point and just want to stop now.

I guess I am just feeling discouraged right now. I hate being the person in class who has no idea what is going on and has to rely on their classmates to keep up. I don't like working with those people and I hate being that person. I feel like I am pulling everyone else down that I am working with.

I guess only time will tell on whether or not I stick it out. Have any of you ever had a dilemma like this? How did you decide what to do?

On a happier note I am really looking forward to my massage after work today. I have had this horrible headache for the past 4 days!!

Weekend Fun and A Win for the Vikes

This weekend was spent doing some much needed relaxing. The weeks have been flying by and filled with craziness every moment so I was thankful for being able to just do nothing this weekend (at least for half of it)

Friday: Once I got off of work on Friday I came home to Jamal getting dinner ready for us. We ate and watched Bones for most of the night then went to bed since he was tired and had to work on the AM. At first I had wanted to go out and do something but once we got settled in with our show I was happy to be able to just sit at home.

Saturday: Woke up bright and early to go with my mom to look at a violin she found on craigslist for my sister. It looked good so she bought it. Then I worked the rest of the day. And Saturday night I had to babysit little miss Riley which is always fun. We played barbies and watched a Bug's Life.

Sunday: We got up and went to church then headed over to Greg and Karissa's to watch football. I am normally not that big of a fan of football and never watch it but I did yesterday and it wasn't so bad. Maybe since I watched Jamal's games all summer I can understand it more and not be sooo lost. Did you any of you catch the Vikings game? I would say that it was pretty amazing. That win at the very end was really good. So surprising.

That is it for now. Back to the work/school week. Is it Christmas break yet?

Back to School Memories.

Today I found Laurens blog and this fun link-up she does on Fridays so I am joining in today and the theme is all about back to school.

1.  My favorite grade in school was it's a toss up. my freshman and junior year were the best years of my high school career. Freshmen year II started at a completely new school, played volleyball and softball, joined a lot of things, made a ton of friends and was always having so much fun. And junior year I was on the track and field team, found a great group fo friends who forever changed my life and thoroughly enjoyed my life.

2.  My favorite teacher was my English teacher Mr Booher. He was the greatest and I will never forget him. He was hard on us and never let it be easy but he had faith in us and knew we could accomplish whatever we wanted to.

3.  The highest level of education I have completed is  I I am in my fourth year of college and not close to being done :(

4. School lunches for me were usually  lunch from home, a sandwich of some sort and a side. Nothing too exciting Sometimes I ate the school lunch if it was something good but usually I preferred my own food.

5. The amount of money you'd have to pay me to go back to high school would be  A lot. As much fun as I had I am so glad to be done and continuing on with my life.

6. A few things that will always remind me of going back to school are:  Walking though target and walmart with all the school supplies out, wanting to buy new "school" clothes, and seeing the school buses.

7.  The first day of school was always NERVEWRACKING

Back to school season is always a fun time for me (and a tad stressful). How do you like it?
