The Best Friends Around...At least When They Are in Season

I don't have anything too exciting going on this weekend other than work. but I will be going back to the state fair Monday which I am happy about. So while all of you are probably enjoying the long weekend doing fun things I will be working and then most likely ending the night with some of my friends...on tv.

Here are my favorite tv friends right now

Royal Pains
I love this show. Hank and Evan are brothers who have their own concierge doctor practice in the Hamptons. I love has resourceful Hank is using the most random objects as medical things and their patients are always interesting.

White Collar
Matt Bomer. I think I have said enough ;)
But really this show is great I love how creative Neil and Mozzie are. And how Neil can always find a way to get out of trouble.

Pretty Little Liars
Like I said before I am only in the second season don't spoil it for me please! But the suspense is getting so good this show is just addicting.

I am so excited for this show to come back and to see what will happen next.

Switched At Birth
About a deaf girl and another girl who got switched at the hospital and now how they are combing their families together.

Bachelor Pad
The endless drama keeps me hooked.

Well that is it for now. Do you like any of these shows? What some of your favorites that I didn't mention? Have a great weekend!

First Day of School x16

Yesterday was my first day of school for the 16th time (not even including preschool). You would think that I would be a pro by now but I was still nervous. And unprepared. I didn't have my books or the required laptop that I needed. Oops.

Since it was my time commuting to Mankato I left extra early in case there was traffic, luckily no traffic and therefore ample time to buy my needed books. I went to my first 2 classes of the day. My stats teacher is quite rude and a jerk and I realized that I needed my laptop ASAP because he would not be friendly nor care that I couldn't do my assignment without it on Wednesday.

After my second class I went to the computer store to buy my laptop. But of course they are all old out except for my least favorite one/pricery one :/  I went to eat lunch and think how badly I needed the computer right now. After some thought I went back and bought the one I didn't want and am now broke.

Next I had Spanish class. With a new professor to my school. Who is a native speaker. Who I cannot understand. This shall be interesting.

Then I had a dinner break and went to my final class of the day, accounting. I like my far.

Well I have 1 2 hour each way commute down and 28 more to go. Woo hoo!

On the bright side, Monday's I have two 2 hour breaks which leaves my plenty of time for blogging studying :)

The Great Minnesota Get Together and Lemon-Berry Beer

This weekend Jamal and I went to our state fair. It ended up raining most of the time we were there but we still enjoyed ourselves. We had a ton of fun and even more food.

One of the new items this year was lemon berry beer from Leinenkugel. And omygoodness was it amazing. We found on our way out so we only got one cup but you better believe when we go back and will be drinking a lot more of it. It is so delicious, it will be in stores September 1st around here so look it up and buy it! I promise you it is worth it.

Now for the pictures.
Bacon on a stick!!! So yummy. With orange chipotle sauce on top.

1. Yummy Raspberry Wine Smoothie
2. Delicious "Super Stick" Pepperoni and cheese with garlic batter deep fried
3. Look at all the people
4. Us after a long day at the fair :)

2. Adorable little goat

Pancetta, God's Gift to Earth

Jamal and I have been having weekly dates with our friends Karissa and Greg. WE go over have make dinner and eat all together and then the girls go to watch our show and the guys get their game on.

This week it was our turn to cook. We made some delicious pork chops, mashed potatoes, corn and broccoli. It was soooo good. I didn't take any picture but I recommend trying out the pork chop recipe. It was made with apples and pancetta! Pancetta, have you ever tried it before?? It was so good! I am a  new fan and will be buying this stuff often. Here is the recipe we used.

We also tried making dessert but it was a huge FAIL. It was supposed to be a banana caramel pie but it turned out to be a big mess!
Icky Liquidy Disaster

After dinner us girls retreated to the bedroom to watch Pretty Little Liars. We finished the first season last night (we are kinda behind the times and just started watching it about a month ago)! It is getting so good, I hope we can watch some more this weekend. (if you watch don't tell me anything please)

I am looking forward to this weekend. I get off work on Friday at 3:30 and have the weekend off. We are house sitting again and going to the state fair so it is going to be a great weekend! Then Monday I start my first day of classes.

Peace Out Buttercups

Our Story Part 2

Back some time ago I started to tell the story of how Jamal and I met (you can read it here). I tend to get a little sidetracked and never here I am with the second part in our love saga :)

After his grad party we continued to text occasionally back in forth, but nothing really. During winter sometime  we thought it would be a good idea to catch up so we met at AppleBees one night for some food and chatting. The night turned out MISERABLE. He seems to think it went great, I on the other hand know it was a disaster. I ordered fries and ate all of them! He got some food and took maybe two bites! Right there I felt like an idiot for being the only one eating, I hate when that happens. And during our entire time there I basically just rambled on and on about myself and he barely said anything. It was like I was talking to myself, (oddly enough that hasn't changed much still) After that night I kinda figured we wouldn't really talk much again. But how wrong I was.

We continued the texting thing for a few more months and then it was prom season. My senior year and first prom I would be attending and I knew I wanted a date. I had 2 people in mind to ask, Jamal being one of them and after some careful thought he won.

Now if you really knew me you would know how difficult this was for me. I had to ask him to my prom!!! Am I crazy? I knew I wanted to ask him and person and so on a spur of the moment one night I made my friend come with me as I drove over to his place to ask him. I was freaking out the entire drive over and thought I might die!

Once I made it to his house I called or texted him and told him to come downstairs so we could talk, he was pretty confused why I randomly drove over at like 10 at night to talk. Once he came down I was so nervous I didn't know if I could even ask him! I got up the courage and told him I had a question, I then asked him if he would go to prom with me....He said YES :) :) :) I was so happy and glad that I was brave enough to ask him and it was over. So then I just said "awesome, well I will talk to you later" and left. I know real smooth. haha

So we went to prom with a group of my friends and had a ton of fun. It was a little awkward between us and we didn't dance or talk much to each other but I was glad that he was there with me.

Be back soon with the third and final part of how we became Jamal and Brittany.

I Can DIMyself

Lately my friend Ashley and I have been trying out fun crafts we have found on Pinterest. One of my favorite ones we have done so far is a painted picture frame with a quote on it. This is how we made them

1. We bought the supplies. A picture frame, paint, paint brush and letter stickers (it doesn't matter how the stickers look because you are just going to throw them away)

2. The hardest part of the whole project, picking the perfect quote! I chose this one

"Life is for deep kisses, strange adventures, midnight swims and rambling conversations"

3. After you have picked the quote spell it out with the stickers on the glass part of the picture frame. Make sure that the stickers are pressed down firmly with no edges lifted up.

4. Next paint the entire glass with the paint. Even over the stickers. Do it a couple times to get it opaque.

5. Here is the next hardest part...waiting. I let mine dry for about 15 minutes, I didn't want it to be completely dry but not too sticky either. You will have to test it out to see when yours is ready. Then when you think it is ready you peel all of the stickers off. I used a toothpick to help peel mine off. There will probably be some paint where there shouldn't be so I just used the toothpick to scrape the extra paint away.

6. Ta-Da!!! Beautiful!!!! I am in love, now I just need to decide where to hang it!

I liked how this turned out a lot but for my next time doing this I think I will try out spray paint to see how that works.

Have any of you ever tried this? Or do you have any other fun ideas for me to try? Let me know!

One Track Mind

Hey Everyone! I know it has been a while. I jut haven't felt motivated to write lately but I think I am ready to start again :)

School is going to be starting up again in about two weeks and it is been on my mind constantly. I have decided that since I only have class 2 days a week that I will be commuting to school for fall semester. It is a two hour drive each way!! I am kinda nervous about it but also really excited.

For the past 3 years I have lived and gone to school in a different city each year. And it has been rough. Moving around so much has made it kinda hard to really find that great group of friends and be able to maintain a close relationship. Once I get settled and have found a good routine and have my group of friends I move again.

So I am really happy that I will be staying home this fall because I have been hanging out with my friends that live here a lot this summer and have made some great new friends so I am glad I will be staying around to continue to build these friendships. Buuutttt on the flip side, my plan is to study abroad in the spring and so I have been contemplating that and how it will affect the life that I have stabilized here. It stresses me out a bit but I have to remind myself that it is only 12 weeks, everyone will still be here when I get back and we will just pick up where we left off and have so many great stories to share :)

It was nice to write on here again :) I am sure I will be back soon! I have missed reading all of your blogs.
