Ms. Peyton

So happy that it is the weekend!

Last night I got to babysit this little cutie.

She an adorable little girl named Peyton who is 15 months old. Her mom is a friend of mine. I have been babysitting for her for about a year now. Last night when her mom dropped her off she let me know that Peyton had gotten FIVE SHOTS earlier that day. Poor girl, that is no fun. She was so crabby.

Aside from that she is pretty cute so I still love her. I didn't get any pictures last night so I will have to steal a few from FB.

Were you in a fight?

Hello Bloggers!

It has been a pretty uneventful week so far but I do have a funny story from the weekend.

My boy went to some bars Saturday night with one of his co-workers. They were having a good time and a few too many drinks. They were both heading outside for a breather and there was a stool in Jamal's way so he picked a fight with it. Obviously the stool won and beat him up. Here's the proof.

Not pretty at all! Poor baby. Looks like it hurt! Now he knows better than to get in fights with inanimate objects. And now I guess I will not be getting any kisses when I see him this weekend :(

On a much more exciting note. Now just one month until I will be home for the summer and I could not be anymore excited!!!!

Africa Night

Happy Monday! Now that today is almost over I only have 3 more days until my weekend. I love not having class on Fridays.

On Saturday I went to Africa Night at my school. It's this huge event with food and performances and tons of people participate and watch. I have never been a fan of African food but since i paid for it and it was there I thought i might as well try it out. I didn't eat most of it. There was chicken, goat stew, meatballs, fried dough, and dessert was a mixture of yogurt and couscous. It wasn't terrible but not my favorite.

They had a couple speakers, dances, singing, and a skit. They did a pretty good job with the whole thing and the performances were really good. The performance part of the night was really cool but it did get a bit long. I left maybe a half hour early and by the time I did the room was already over half empty.

Here are some pictures from the night, they are not the best considering that I was sitting about half way back and the room was level so it was hard to get a good picture with all those heads in front of me but i tried.

Other than that this weekend I just worked and started watching season one of In Plain Sight. All in all a good weekend.

caliente chicken

Today my Spanish project about a pretend trip to Peru was due. I had the powerpoint done and everything but hadn't really looked it over since we did it a week ago. I didn't want to present today and would have liked to had the weekend to review it but of course that did not happen.
As my luck would have it my professor called on me and my partner to present first. Oh no. during the presentation I was describing some peruvian grilled chicken and how it is prepared. My professor wanted me to explain a "a las brasas" (grilled) for him and of course i respond in English, oops. so he told me to do it in spanish, all i could come up with was caliente (hot)! nice right? well at least i got a laugh out of the class :)

After i got out of class I called Jamal and asked him to grab something from my purse that looks a little something like this

as he was digging through it the convo went  a little like this:

Me: did you find it yet?
Jamal: hey! what is my nibbly stick doing in here?
Me: nibbly stick??? what is that?
Jamal: my flash drive.

oh goodness he is too funny.

Good luck friends

This month has been kinda sad one for me and Jamal, well mostly Jamal. Two of his best friends have/will leave him this month. The lovely Max who just moved back to MN less than a year ago is leaving us again for the sunny skies of Florida to go to school. We will miss him so much but now can look forward to having a reason to go visit him at the beach :) So I guess it isn't all bad. Jamal is just really sad about it because they would hang out a lot and now they can't. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of us all together so this will have to do (must increase picture taking).

our handsome maxi

Now on Monday Jovon is leaving us for Chicago to start basic training for the Navy. We are really excited for him and his new adventure but are very sad to see him go. Jamal and him would talk daily and now that won't be an option.
Good Luck Guys! I know you will both do great. We will miss you.

Accent Vlog

Hey! So i just found this Accent Vlog from Kristen at allinmytwenties and thought it would be fun to do and is much more exciting than writing a Spanish paper. There is a list of words that you repeat so others can hear how you say them and then some fun questions about what different things are called.

The list of words are :
aunt, route, wash, oil, theater, iron, salmon, caramel, fire, water, sure, data, ruin, crayon, toilet, New Orleans, pecan, both, again, probably, spitting image, Alabama, lawyer, coupon, mayonnaise, syrup, pajamas, caught

And the questions are:
what is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
what is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
what do you call gym shoes?
what do you say to address a group of people?
what do you call the kinda of spider that has an oval shape and really long legs?
what do you call your grandparents?
what do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries?
what do you call it when it rains while the sun is shining?
what is the thing used to change the channel on the TV?

Well I hope you found it interesting and maybe you will do one too :) Now I am off to start the dreaded homework. Wish me luck.

Today is just one of those days where I have everything and nothing on my mind so I am just going to list some things that I have been thinking about lately.

  • 9 days until I go home to see Jamal :) I live about 2 hours away from school and go home every other weekend to see him...and my family. Yes I do count down the days once i get back to school until i can see him again.

  • On another note, right now I am try to plan some fun things for us to do this summer. We went to Chicago earlier this month and had so much fun exploring the city and trying out new restaurants and so we really want to do this in our home state. I am really excited for it and have found some really cool things to do like go on cave tours, four-wheeling and food tours.

  • This oceans class is not going well for me at all and I think I am just going to have to withdraw from it. I am kind of sad because it covers some general goal areas I need and there goes 3 credits and plenty of time wasted :/ oh well such is life

  • It is getting close to summer and I keep thinking about getting a second job and where I want to work. I have considered babysitting either on the side of my job or if I can get enough hours babysitting only doing that. I know I have over a month still but I keep thinking about it. I almost wish summer were closer just so that I could start applying to places.
well that's it for now. Life is not too exciting and I don't for see that changing for the next month. School School School

A snippet of me

Well, I have finally decided to start blogging. I have been following a few for a while now and figured that I might as well try it out. I was hesitant because I have no idea what I am going to write about. I will start with an introduction of myself :)

I am 21 and live in the great state of Minnesota. I go to MSU Mankato and this is my third school! Yes, I have transferred to a new school every year. But my plan is to stay here and get that oh so coveted degree.

I have the most amazing boyfriend EVER! Jamal is the name and he is a year older than me. I will share our story later. It is pretty cute if i say so myself ;)

I work in retail, love to travel, and am excited to start my new adventures of blogging!
